These three dimensional clay paintings are built from slabs and covered with thick layers of soft clay.

Pushed around by boards, wiped and brushed onto the base , the top layer shows shapes like grooves, splashes, waves.

Oxides and colorful slips were applied onto the leather hard slabs and after the first firing to enhance the impression of depth of the relief.

Partly sanded or glazed the surface becomes vibrant with colour and textures.

The impressive beauty of New Zealand surf and waterfalls initiated the creative journey to discover ways of expression with the material clay.
